International Center for Applied Finance and Economics (InterCAFE) is a research and training center under the Institute of Research and Community Empowerment (LPPM) of Bogor Agricultural University, with special focus on economic and finance issues. It has been established since 2005 in line with and supporting the vision of Bogor Agricultural University towards an international and research-based university. InterCAFE is a joint research center with the University of Adelaide, Australia. The international cooperation with the University of Adelaide reflects the strong commitments from both institutions to improve the analytic and scientific approaches and solve problems related to finance and economics.
As part of supporting Bogor Agricultural University as World Class University through excellent research, InterCAFE has built some international collaborations. Following collaboration with Adelaide University, cooperation with Georg August University of Gottingen, Germany has been established. Those co-operations cover such matters as exchange of staff and students, participation in seminars and academic meetings, joint trainings, joint research activities, exchange of publications, academic materials and other information, joint quality assurance and benchmarking. Joint research and publications between InterCAFE and the two international partners are presented in the next section.

A leading research center in applied finance and economics which producing high quality of research equivalent to those in the leading universities in the world.

Mission

1. To conduct research in applied finance and economics focused on cases from developing countries (emerging markets).

2. To develop frontier economics and applied finance models as part of global attempt for advancing economic and social sciences.

Starting from this cooperation, InterCAFE is now become a nationally and internationally recognized institution. Currently, InterCAFE and its staff are cooperating with researchers from many institutions, not only from Indonesia but also from other countries. In the future, InterCAFE is expected to evolve as a leading research center internationally focusing on social finance, monetary economics and Islamic finance. InterCAFE has a core competence in advanced and applied research in finance and economics with particular interest on issues relating to Indonesia as well as developing countries. The center is now in the frontier of social finance, Islamic finance, and applied banking economics.
There are four main activities conducted by InterCAFE, Research, Training, Publication, and Consultancy and Training. The Research coverage are including Monetary Economics, Banking and Finance, International Finance, Development Macroeconomics, Micro Finance, Islamic Economic and Finance Agricultural and Resource Economics, Poverty, Environmental Economics, Regional, Economics, Trade and Industry, Institutional Development, Risk Management.

Since its establishment, InterCAFE actively run international cooperation with different institutions such as; University of Adelaide (Australia), The Asia Foundation, Sydney University (Australia), Australian National University, Gottingen University (Germany), Wuppertal University (Germany), Potsdam University (Germany), Chulalongkorn University (Thailand), Fudan University (Shanghai – China), ACIAR (Australia), CIFOR, IFPRI,  ILRI, IFAD, GIZ, University of British Columbia, IFC, SEADI-USAID, Millenium Challenge Account Indonesia (MCA-I), etc.

InterCAFE conducts training and consultation from several funding providers such as; Bank Indonesia, PT Bank Lippo, Tbk, PT Bank Mandiri, Tbk., PT Bank Rakyat Indonesia, Tbk., Ministry of Industry RI, Ministry of Trade RI, Department of Agriculture RI, Local Government of Purwakarta District, Local Government of Cirebon District, PT Bank Danamon, Indonesia Forum Foundation, Indonesia Economist Association, Bank Jawa Barat-Banten, Bappenas, PT Pos, and etc.
